Thomas Quiwonkpa
|
General Thomas Quiwonkpa, former commander of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), a Gio from Nimba County. Charles Taylor was a protégé of Quiwonkpa in the 80s, and was related by marriage to Quiwonkpa. Disillusionment in Doe led Quiwonkpa and others linked to the “progressives”, including Joe Wylie (later to become a member of the LURD), to launch a coup on 12 November 1985.
